Mira is in her final year of secondary school and is Head Girl, she is 17 years old, she is a double orphan who has been brought up since the age of 8 by her Uncle and Aunt. She recently has started living with us in Bassa after being referred to us by her school and the Social Welfare. The home where she has been staying has been quite harsh and she has been severely beaten on several occasions. A few years ago her cousin raped her and has tried since several times. As she refused his advances he began to tell lies to his parents that she was seeing boys and so the treatment upon her grew worse. The parents refused paying her school fees and examination entry and school became her only safe place. The Vice Principal and her form teacher have been paying for her and counselling her through. However things escalated recently when she was late home after class she was severely beaten by her Uncle and arrived at school covered in blood !! The school contacted us to see if we could take her as they knew about our ministry as this is where our girls had been for the past 5 years to school and they were impressed with their behaviours and us in general and pleaded on her behalf. The case was referred to Social welfare and the parents brought to account, she is now in protected custody in our centre away from them.
She is a remarkable young lady who has survived despite the odds against her, she has a strong faith and knows God has saved her and provided a place for her and she is at peace now and very happy. She is determined to do well and make something of her life.
Due to the witness of our girls in their school, the testimony of our ministry on their lives has opened a way for another precious daughter to be saved for a better future.
Praise The Lord he has a plan for each child’s life, we want to be able to help more children like Mira to fulfil their destiny through Kings Kids.
